What exactly does "the last supper" means? i am looking for the meaning of word "supper"?

I hope all have heard about the famous painting "the last Supper" by Leonardo Da Vinci ... actually in that term " the last supper" what exactly does the word Supper means? is it a dinner? or lunch? or something else ?
