Do people make death to much of a big deal?

Instead of having a huge ceremony and all this focus on the deceased, I think if we bury them and move on immediately with out any other "procedures", any emotional pain will become a detachment due to a conscience lack of focus. Therefore the mourner won't be able to think about it if there is nothing to remind them. Like start a "fresh page"
