What was Leonardo Da vinci's aims in life?

I'm currently working on a presentation that will explain some sort of theme in his life. I'm thinking about explaining how his ambition to want to be remembered/known allowed him to think of incredible things. It sort of works backwards though, as I could say that his genius caused him to be scared of plagiarism.
