How truly important was Mary Magdalene?

From everything I have ever read about Mary Magdalene she was referred to in early Christian writings as "the apostle to the apostles." There is a lot of fascinating information on her on the web. She was an amazing woman. I too think she was very important to the History of Jesus. To be the first to see Jesus should have been the moment of moments of all times. Wow.....Mary Magdalene is considered by the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran churches to be a saint, with a feast day of July 22.
